Drake & PartyNextDoor's '$ome $exy $ongs 4 U' Sets New Apple Music Record

Drake and PartyNextDoor's highly anticipated collaborative album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, was a record-breaker on Apple Music. Released on February 14 on a Friday, the project set the record for most first-day streams worldwide among an R&B/soul record in the site's history.

Drake's Comeback After 'For All the Dogs'

Drake's second studio album since 2023's For All the Dogs, which topped charts for two weeks in a row, is this one. The new album also follows the Toronto rapper's highly publicized beef with Kendrick Lamar which got fiercer when Lamar performed his chart-dominating diss track, "Not Like Us," during the Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 9 in front of a record-breaking audience of over 100 million viewers.

A Collaboration Years in the Making

The 21-song album, which takes 74 minutes, is the latest addition to PartyNextDoor's catalog after his 2024 release, P4. As a prelude to suspense, Drake surprised fans in Melbourne early this week by inviting PartyNextDoor on stage during his Anita Max Wynn Tour.

"I have an album coming out on Feb. 14 with my brother PartyNextDoor," Drake informed the people of Australia. "It's called $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, but there are some upbeat songs in there too, and some very intimate ones. Hopefully, whoever you're with on Valentine's Day, you can enjoy that experience with them."

Visuals and Musical Chemistry

The cover art of $ome $exy $ongs 4 U has both artists wearing fur coats in front of the famous Marilyn Monroe Towers in Canada. The two artists have had a long history of creative chemistry, and they have collaborated on popular tracks such as "Come and See Me," "Recognize," "Members Only," "Loyal," "Preach," and "Since Way Back" before.

With its record-breaking release, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U further tightens Drake and PartyNextDoor's hold on the R&B and soul music genres, once again proving their ability to make music that reaches individuals worldwide.
